What is the role of a fitness coach?

A fitness instructor's role is to plan regular training schedules, workout schedules, and diet plans based on the client's fitness goals, and to guide them in fitness exercises and weight training techniques, including free weights and machine training methods. In addition to basic exercise instruction, some fitness instructors also possess medical, nutritional, and health knowledge to help clients improve their physique, mindset, and health, and to encourage them to cultivate fitness habits, should clients have any needs or questions.

The professional services provided by fitness instructors also include effective muscle strengthening through training for individuals with specific health needs, such as sarcopenia, osteoporosis, and the elderly.

What does a fitness training session involve?

Fitness training generally includes weight training and cardio exercise, in addition to a diet plan to achieve fitness goals.

Gravity training

Weight training (or anaerobic exercise) is a type of resistance training. Weight training forces the body to convert lactic acid produced through anaerobic metabolism for energy, making it a common training method for building muscle. Weight training disrupts muscle fibers and the muscle regeneration cycle, increasing muscle mass and effectively raising the body's metabolic rate, burning more calories throughout the day, which is beneficial for fat loss.

Gravity training typically involves activities that use weights, weight machines, or dumbbells to create resistance in the muscles. By having the muscles work against external resistance, it increases muscle mass, strength, power, endurance, and size, gradually increasing the strength of the core muscles and specific muscle groups, such as the arms, legs, and back.

Aerobic exercise

The primary function of aerobic exercise is to train cardiovascular function and burn fat. Maintaining a heart rate of 50-90% of your maximum heart rate through moderate-intensity exercise allows the body to metabolize fat and glycogen. During aerobic training, both breathing and heart rate increase, promoting blood circulation, maintaining cardiovascular efficiency, and improving overall health. If a client's fitness goal is fat loss, the fitness program designed by the instructor may include aerobic exercises, such as those on a treadmill, low-impact elliptical trainer, or stationary bike, to burn stored body fat and achieve fat loss.

*It's worth noting that prolonged aerobic exercise burns fat but also leads to muscle loss. Therefore, if your goal is fat loss and weight reduction, the best approach is to combine aerobic exercise with weight training.

Dietary plan

In addition, fitness also emphasizes diet. The job of a fitness coach includes creating meal plans for clients. Different people have different fitness goals (muscle gain, fat loss, participating in bodybuilding competitions, etc.) and specific nutritional needs, requiring customized meal plans. Generally, the price of a fitness coach includes meal plan creation services, depending on the details of the services provided.
